Meet Petty Officer Leslie Perez! Petty Officer Perez received Operation Cookie Drop cookies this winter, while out to sea serving aboard the USS George HW Bush.
Petty Officer Perez is a former Girl Scout from Carmel, who enjoyed her scouting days from Daisy to Senior scout! Leslie earned her Silver Award helping rescue dogs in a project called “Hope for Hope”. As a Girl Scout, Leslie and her troop participated in Operation Cookie Drop every year!
We received this message from PO Perez’s family:
“A big Thank You to Operation Cookie Drop for thinking of my daughter Leslie and sending a special Cookie Drop to her … She was missing home and the package got to her on a well needed day… she is very grateful that you thought about her and is sending you all a big hug and kiss. Operation Cookie Drop Strikes again! Thanks to Alison Bergman and her Girl Scouts for all they do…❤”
In 2016, more than 100,000 boxes were donated to United States servicemen and women, and cookies came from Girl Scouts in all 7 counties. Girl Scouts from all over the Council were so proud to be able to send one of our own, cookies and cards and notes! At the yearly event, Girl Scouts had the opportunity to speak with the military who attended the event, help pack boxes, make cards to thank veterans and soldiers for their service. Scrapbooks were also filled with responses from soldiers who received cookies from the troops.
The 2017 Operation Cookie Drop is scheduled for June 10th at the Westchester Police Academy.
Thank you for your service Petty Officer Perez, stay safe, and know that we are thinking of you! There will be more Cookie Drops heading your way soon
